Is it safe to use an unlocked Smartphone in the USA?

Post by Babita »

Hello, my friend gifted me an unlocked smartphone as my birthday gift. I plan to use it in the USA and want to know if it is legal.

Has anyone used an unlocked smartphone from a foreign country and used it in the United States?

Problems With Using Unlocked iPhone in USA?

You should contact the carrier customer support and inform them about your plan to use the unlocked phone purchased from a different country. Some special carrier services may not be available to your unlocked phone.

I do not think there are any legal or technical problems that prevent you from using an unlocked smartphone in the USA.

No legal problem as far as I know. However, no service provider will like you use a fully unlocked iPhone. Check for the service providers guidelines. You might find troubles with getting insurance coverage.

Hello Babita, don't you think the company revoke the warranty when you unlock the smartphone?
