Can AntiVirus Slow Down a Computer?

I installed an AntiVirus on my Windows computer, and now the system is slow. Is it normal or should I worry?

Norton antivirus is a heavy application.

I too had similar experince as ron. I removed the antivirus and the system started operating faster.

My experince says yes. Anti virus slows down computer.But its better keep anti virus to be safe.

No issues on my PC. Only a lower end computers slow down with an Anti Virus.

I use Avast antivirus on my Windows laptop. I never felt it slowing down the device. That is my experince.
